Communication based Team Building in France.
We were asked to send a team out to Evian Les Bains in France to provide our innovative Architect team building event (link). We assembled a strong team and flew from London to Geneva and made the 50 minute trip around the Lake to well located Hilton Evian Les Bains.
The session needed to run for 2.5 hours and engage 160 very senior, very intelligent consultants divided across 16 teams so we opted for the Architect format.
The 16 teams worked in 4 collaborative wider groups as they competed in the construction of 4 super Lego skyscrapers. The plans were drawn up by professional architects and the information and resource was spread unevenly across the group making it difficult for teams to allocate tasks and generate a clear plan.
We were a little concerned as in a recent team event the Architect proved a huge challenge for another client - ultimately that particular event was deemed a success due to the quality of the insightful team learning generated by that session. We needn't of worried. The PA Consulting teams acquitted themselves admirably by quickly grasping the task at hand and executing their plans to create 4 fantastic Sky Scrapers.
