Lego S.R.O.

Facilitated Team Building in Budapest
Companies often approach us with a specific focus for their day from dealing with change and communication to understanding the importance of collaboration and information sharing to ensure the efficient functioning of a company.

Lego have an interesting story behind them and after spending a couple of days working with them at the Hilton Budapest City, Budapest one can very easily see how they have managed to continue to innovate and successfully develop a sustainable business in a global market.  Apart from an overwhelming sense of value and pride, collaboration is distinctive between its individuals and at the core of the company’s ethos. We may be talking about a brick here, but together they are building skyscrapers.

The facilitated team programme in this instance was designed to address communication, including cross cultural and remote and the necessity of a collective mind-set. The company was split into three teams for the sessions, each team with an allocated facilitator and led through a variety of tasks including real time project management where no one member of the team had the full picture in order to complete the task. The part of the facilitator here is not to teach, but to watch and gain insight into the dynamics and working of the group to later focus their reflective process.

The final session brought the teams back together as a whole group to reflect on their experience. An overwhelming aspect of learning that came through the day was an increased awareness in the necessity to clarify and the problems that can arise through making assumptions. These were as a direct result of their experiences in tasks that were purposely designed with a certain amount of ambiguity, confusion and a lack of shared information in the initial stages.  The facilitated reflective process then provided the company with real and valuable insights in co-ordination, maintaining information flow and the strength in collective goals and mind-set.

Experiential learning is a great tool and can also be a lot of fun. The people we work with are often driven and passionate. Team development needn’t be a stodgy environment, but live and exciting and working with Lego was testament to that.

We use ‘The Lego Brick’ for some our most powerful team building experiences.  We are glad that Lego use us to foster and develop the team behind it.

Client: "Again thanks a lot for a great session, will definately have you in mind if doing team building activities in the Munich office."
