The client wanted to be involved with the writing of the hunt all the way through and asked that one of his friends (a highly respected peer and author of several books on Venice and its history) should also be involved.
After several site visits and quite a number of meetings this event was slotted into three days’ worth of activities, tours and parties…. meaning all the printing, paperwork and artwork had to be harmonious with everything else.
‘The level of detail was amazing’, explained EML Team director Jon Huggett , ‘It became apparent after the first meeting that any commercially printed maps of Venice were simply not up to our requirements for the event. We spoke to our graphic design company who were able to re draw and design a map that suited this event, which in turn could be highlighted and annotated to the client’s strict requirements’.
‘We also produced leather bound, Gold embossed, books with all the questions and answers as souvenirs ……and just in case any guest missed the initial briefing we produced a Blog that could be privately accessed explaining what was required – this was not an App based event that could simply be downloaded’.
On the event we were rewarded with a beautiful sunny morning for the teams to hunt around the warren of Venetian streets and Campo’s. The teams sought out our 'ladies dressed in black' with venetian red pashminas, created photographic illusions and busily purchased items for the judges. They even had to bring a flower back for their Lady in Black. Each team beset with individual team scarves could be seen in a flurry of activity in the morning sun. “Everything was a triumph” expressed our client.
Naturally the client and their guests were delighted with the session and given that they only had 3 hours to complete what was asked from them, the guests proved to be totally engaged and highly competitive – The winning team managing to score an amazing 378 points out of 400!
In short this treasure hunt was highly bespoke with a sprinkle of EML Team magic! – Questions, Codes, Cryptex, Character meetings and a whole lot more made this a truly memorable event for not just the guests but our event team.
